Read the post concerning selling camps with interest.
SHAC has one camp I (personally) would love to see sold. It fronts the
major Interstate Highway connecting Houston and Dallas. At night the
traffic noise makes sleeping problematic. The land frontage on the access
road is very valuable and the sale could be used to fund development of a
Alas, I seriously doubt if the Council will ever sell the property even when
new facilities (already purchased) are developed It's also the conference
center for the Council. It's a nice development, but I really desire a more
remote "feel" when camping.
Our neighboring council in Beaumont (Three Rivers?) has a camp adjacent to a
pulp mill. Log grinding starts at 4:30 a.m. and runs continuously till
10:30 p.m. That was an experience also.
Others with interesting camps??
