now that we have seen a debate about the history behind the GSUSA, I havent
noticed anything on the *reason* why they are Girl *Scouts* insted of *Guides*
like the majority.
Just let me state, that for my Queen's Guide, I had to do 40 hours worht of
history on Guiding and Scouting for a single part of my award and the way I
read it was the reason why the GSUSA are not Guides is that when Ms Low
introduced it into the USA, Guide was not a wise choice as it meant a half
caste Indian tracker/Guide and was considered tobe deogriatry, given the racial
tensions of the USA at the tinme (not that we were much better down here at the
time) however, I would like to think that as a goalbal village that we are
today, we have come a lot further than this sort of thing.
And forgive me for jmping in here. But there is just one thing that I do know
and that is my Scouting/Guiding History.....
