This is a hard discussion. I would hope that a mother would allow their
daughter to experience a camping trip or other outing with me as
a leader BECAUSE I have proven myself as a competant leader and that
I have built TRUST with the scouts but also the parents.
I also would not have a problem if a parent said NO as Mary has done here.
As parents, we MUST be confident that our children will be well taken care
of, and if we are not fully confendent, then the child should stay home.
I have been wonderfully accepted by the parents in our troop. Because
of my skills in First Aid and my compassionate style, many parents ask
which camp outs I will be attending, and that their children CAN go
on those trips. There are some kids that the parents DON'T LET their
children go otherwise.
Its is simply trust.
SECONDLY, I would NEVER take females on a campout without a female leader.
PERIOD! I believe that you need to create an environment that everyone
