"Youth Protection/Child Abuse can be an emotional topic. I don't mean
to revive a YPT discussion. Specifically, I am looking for input on:
1. what are the "official" Council reporting requirements as
presented in YPT in your Council?
2. have you heard that a second adult should be involved during the
initial discussion with the scout?"
I recently took the training to be a YPT presenter for our council. Our
reporting requirements, as I understand them, are:
1) report to the SE (we are a small/medium council)
2) report to the state YP agency (required by NJ law), although the SE will
assist with that.
I think it would be inappropriate for us to report to the chartered partner
or parents directly.
Nothing has been said about having a second adult present during such as
"disclosure" specifically, but it would seem to be normal under the YPT
guidelines for any meeting between adult and scout. But I can see that
suddently having a group of adults present might stiffle the boy a bit.
