It is probably time that I "De-cloak" and introduce myself, (can you
tell another of my interests :-). I have been lurking here on SCOUTS-L
for the last few months using Digest Mode.
I am a relative short timer in scouting but you can see that I am
filling my "one hour a week" without difficulty.
I started with scouting five years ago as a Wolf Den leader with my
oldest son. We joined Pack 10 in Wilton NH, Daniel Webster Council.
He and I went all the way through to Webelos, and all my "boys" (4) earned
their Arrow of Light.
During my tenure as a Webelos Den Leader I was also a Tiger Cub
Partner, and following that an Asst. Wolf Den leader with my second
son. I wanted to be able to give him more 1-on-1 time during our
meetings. By staying an assistant den leader I was able to give him
that and help out a "fledgling" Wolf Den leader :-).
Last summer, '94, just before school, my family moved to Lima NY.
My oldest son and I joined Troop 10, Iroquios Trail Council, a good
solid troop that is growing steadly. He has just finished all his
requirements for Second Class. I am one of the Asst. Scout Masters
with the responsibility for the new scouts.
My second son and I also joined Pack 10, another solid Cub group
but with an approaching leadership crisis. My son is a Bear this year
and almost ready to get his Bear badge, he has been working hard! I am
an Asst. Cub Master, and one of the Asst. Bear Den leaders.
My daughter, our youngest, along with my wife are looking forward
to joining Girl Scouts this year as a brownie and leader(?). I keep
telling my wife that it is only an hour a week too :-). My daughter
has been an honorary "Scub-scout" since she could walk/talk. I am also
hoping to be able to help out my wife with Girl Scouts to repay back
all the help she has been to me over the years
On the Non-Scouter side, I am a Freemason, Union Lodge #45 in
Lima, Raised in 1988, and affiliated with Bethel-Southegan Lodge #24 in
New Ipswitch NH. I seem to have a "draw" to service organizations. I
also brew my own beer, my wife and I are partial to dark Ales, and my
whole family enjoys the process of brewing and bottling. On
brewing/bottling day I call our house the "10-Hands" Brewery :-).
I am currently employed as a software engineer at PTI, a computer
company, we make a variety of computer products for VME systems, and SUN
workstations and servers. I have access to the "Internet Community"
via work, and I have worked with computers and the Internet for almost
Whew, when I first started this mail I expected it to be short and brief.
