It is the symbol of Gilwell Park. (There is one at the top of the arch over the
BTW - my District runs a hillwalking and backpacking competition called 'The
Gilwell Trophy', the trophies being minature versions of this symbol on a
wooden plinth - one made about 30 years ago, and the other about 10 when we
added a shorter novices route.
One group I was with gave a glass version about 6 inches long to Venture Scouts
who gained their Queens Scout (Eagle equivalent) - a very nice momento for
future years. (Incidentally, that particular group is based only about 4
kilometres from Gilwell Park itself).
