Although I attended Boy Scout leader Woodbadge, I think I have a
valid comment concening the recent post about Cub Scout Woodbadge...
In my course, we had two ladies who had only been registered in
BSA for a matter of weeks. They had been Girl Scout leaders and wanted to
get more training in the outdoors subjects. Someone suggested they try to
get into a BSA Woodbadge course.
Well, to make a long story short, there were a few problems. I think
the most basic and underlying cause for the problems (OOPS! I meant to say
OPPORTUNITIES!) was the fact that these ladies were not intimately familiar
with teh BSA program. These ladies overcame and actually finished out their
tickets and received their beads. The whole course was pretty proud of all
their extra effort. (BTW, they are FOXES!!!)
Perhaps, in the future, it would be more prudent for Woodbadge
participants to have at least a year or two of experience in the BSA program.
Used to be a fox...
