Norman MacLeod made several very good points in his post. (I reposted it
to all the committe people on our local system).
My Sea Explorer Ship was facing exactly that dilema. Our training
vessel was being replaced with a smaller boat. We could no longer meet the
guidelines set by BSA for Co-ed groups while staying aboard our boat.
We surveyed the Crew - not suprisingly, they opted to go to a single
gender format as soon as the remaining girls moved up the adult positions.
One interesting fact is that the girls themselves voted for a single
gender program, rather then any of the the other options such as alternate
weekednds or days.
