My apologies if this has been a recent discussion, I have been gone for
about a month. I have checked the archives and didn't see anything on
this, so here goes!
1. What are the REQUIREMENTS for lifeguarding with a Boy Scout swimming
ex. Our troop is going on an alternate program to the Adirondacks this
summer (canoe trip on 2-3 lakes). We will have 4-5 swimmmer adults along
(with appropriate flotation and safety equipment (helmets and kneepads).
The scoutmaster is talking about attending a week of council camp in
order to have his BSA Lifeguard certificate. (says we MUST have a BSA
certified Lifeguard along for swimming).
Is this BSA REQUIRED?? ( I am worried about his recent back and disk surgery)
2. My CC and I had a discussion over Cubs at a local College Pool. She said
was given grief at Council when submitting the tour permit as to who was
the BSA LIFEGUARD. We explained that the college had their staff that WE
were paying for. The same could be said for going to a state park or a
YMCA facility. How do you answer the tour permit?
I am most interested in #1. Thanks!
