I just returned from a weekend in Mobile, AL. While there I did a little
(Very Little) sight seeing. I went to the Weeks Bay National Estuary Research
Reserve and was impressed. They had a great interpretive center with displays
of all aspects of the Weeks Bay estuary. Being a psuedo-Cajun (we have a not
so clean coloquial for ourselves) I was impressed by the displays of plants
and animals found in the estuary. There was aquariums with fishes and
invertebrates I eat and a touch tank with assorted animals. There were also 2
baby aligators on display. They also discussed the geology and landforms
around the estuary and had a very informative and well informed hostess.
If anyone will be in the Mobile area with a Troop, I suggest that you stop
there. It is a good 1 to 2 hour stop that the boys should enjoy.
