At the end of June this year I will be a new Division Training Advisor. After
my job orientation last night I am certainly overwhelmed (already!) :-) The
Area Trainer would like to see some new trainings added, (and of course she
would like me to come up with some ideas!!)
At the end of April the 4-Division training advisors and the trainers get
together to plan the training sessions for next year. Here's where I really
could use some help and ideas.
Since I am involved in both Scouts and Guides Canada, I have been to a few
trainings myself. Perhaps you could help me by telling me the following:
(a) how many years have you been a leader?
(b) what section of Guiding/Scouting are you with?
(c) how did you first find out about training?
(d) how many training sessions have you attended?
(please specify topics)
(e) if you were interested in taking a training, but could not, what were some
of the reasons?
(out of area, babysitting costs, time of year)
(f) what are some of your suggestions for training sessions?
(camp skills, basic canoeing, orienteering, wildflower, astronomy, etc.)
(g) anything else you can offer on me on training suggestions
(how to get people motivated to take training!)
