Hi Ed! Sorry thaqt you are overwhelmed with the amount of mail here on
This is a good time to remind folks of the DIGEST feature here on this
list as well as how to leave us for the summer/spring.
First, remember that this address (Scouts-L@TCUBVM.IS.TCU.EDU) is
where your postings go...you cannot subscribe or leave Scouts-L nor
get any files directly from this address.
Those things can be done by sending messages to the unmanned
Listserver which is also located at Texas Christian University.
The address is: Listserv@TCUBVM.IS.TCU.EDU
Because Scouts-L can produce a LARGE sum of mail each and every day,
and because we know that you don't want to miss a single posting, the
DIGEST feature was turned on a while back for your convience. The
Digest gathers all of the mail sent to the list over a 24 hour period,
and sends it all to you as a SINGLE posting, rather than up to 50
separate postings. While this may make it hard for you to followup
and respond to a specific comment, it does make it easier for you to
read and view a day's worth of our conversation in this "electronic
Roundtable which NEVER ends!"
To do this, send a mail message to the LISTSERVER with the following
SET DIGEST SCOUTS-L
That's it. Once your command has been read by the computer, you
should STOP getting individual postings and you should start getting
ONE posting from Scouts-L every 24 hour period.
Unfortunately, there are many of us that subscribe to Scouts-L from a
college and university and must signoff at the end of each school year
or at the end of a quarter. We will definately miss each and every
one of you, and would want you to return to all of us as soon as you
can. However, when you do leave, please, please, please *signoff*
this list (and other lists, if you are suscribed to them as well)
BEFORE you leave. If you don't, our hard-working list owner (Jon
Eidson), will have to manually unsub you from our list (and he gets a
LOT of bounced or returned mail to his site from folks that fail to do
this!)!! Please make his life a little better by doing the following
*if you are leaving us* :
Send a mail message to the LISTSERVER with the following line:
(UNSUB SCOUTS-L works well too!)
Ed, thanks for stopping by here on Scouts-L and to the many others
here, thank you for your questions, comments and yes, critisms of your
youth program. By continuing to be of service to each other and to
our youth programs, we are all improving our programs from the inside
out and in return, helping that boy or girl enrolled in our programs.
(and if you are still lurking, here's *your chance* to stop and let
us know of *your concerns*, *your questions* and *your opinions*!!)
Finally, this is CAMP STAFF SEASON. Many local Councils are
recruiting for summer camp staff, both at the national facilities as
well as the local Council facilities. PLEASE MAKE AN EFFORT TO TELL
YOUR YOUTH MEMBERS OF THIS EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR SERVICE!! Many
of our camps have went understaffed in the past two years, mostly
because a lot of Scouts didn't know that they *could work there* (many
still think that you have to be over 18 or a graduate of Camp School
in order to work at a summer camp!!). Our Girl Scouting camps could
also use some adults to man various areas of the camp operation as
well...so please spread the word.
And don't forget to SHARE this list and what you've gained from it
with your fellow Scouters and youth group leaders!! That's the real
way that this list grows, and this is the way that the information
here gets shared.
