Professionals, like all of us, SHOULD be wearing the lodge flap of the
Order of the Arrow Lodge which is in THEIR local Council. However,
there are several Council Scout Executives that choose to, like many
of us choose to, to ignore the policy and to wear the Lodge flap of
the Lodge in which they became members of, or the Lodge in which they
received the Vigil Honor, or in which they served as the Lodge Chief
of or some other personal reason.

It is currently BSA policy (per Ben Love, and as far as I know, it
hasn't changed), that professionals SHOULD wear the awards in which
they are entitled to either as a result of youth achievement, service
or adult training. Former Chief Love changed the old "only wear the
Eagle and religious award" policy which was in existance for much of
the seventies and early 80s and has done much to encourage
professionals (following personal example, which he loved to do), to
earn and wear training awards and service awards.
It was under Ben Love, that the BSA's long-standing policy of NOT
allowing professionals to receive service awards like the Silver
Beaver, District Award of Merit, or other awards (like the Whitney
Young Jr., the Spurgeon Award and other "special" awards once only
volunteers were allowed to receive). However, professionals can ONLY
receive those awards after a long (two to three month) evaluation and
determination at the National office.
