My name is Dick Seemann and I am Scoutmaster for Troop 151 in Georgetown,
Georgetown is located 25 miles north of Austin. I have been Scoutmaster for
about 5 years. I served as
Assistant Scoutmaster and Advancement Chairman before becoming Scoutmaster.
I have two sons. Craig, the oldest, is a freshmen at Sam Houston State
Univ. in Huntsville. Tx.
He is an Eagle Scout and he was my first Eagle Scout after I become
Scoutmaster. He still enjoys
Scouting and joined me as tent partner last summer at Philmont. He says he
also wants to go to
summer camp this summer in Colorado.
My other son is Brian, a Life Scout, and soon to be 15. Brian is a freshman
at Georgetown High
School, and besides Scouts he enjoys basketball. He may be the youngest in
the family, but he is also
the tallest. Thus he plays center.
My wifes name is Marilyn, and is the one who really makes sure things get
done for the
Scoutmaster. See was the Den Leader for both boys when they were in Cub
Scouts, and is a strong
Troop 151 currently has 30 registered Scouts, with between 20 to 25 active.
I have good adult
participation in the Troop, with 5 to 8 adults typically at meetings. We had
11 adults, including one mom,
on our trip to Philmont this past summer.
As Scoutmaster I stress the boys running the Troop. I also emphasis
leadership skills, team
work skills, and commitment to goals.
Scouting has been an enjoyable time for me. I never invisioned I would go
backpacking in the
mountains for 10 day, but have done it twice now. Don't know if it is in the
cards again however. Time
I look forward to learning more about Scouting through the conversation and
