I'm Rick Morgan from Pack 732 of Tecumseh District; Dan Beard Council;
Cincinnati, OH. I've been in Scouting for almost three years know. I joined
with my son, now a first year WEBELO. I became a Den Leader for his den and a
month later I also took on the responsibility of Cubmaster, all the veterans
quit or moved up. Our pack has grown from seven boys, when I took over to
@42 boys. We just graduated eight of those boys into a Boy Scout troop. As
you can see, I am pretty proud of my accomplishments, since I was never in
scouts and had no prior experience when I took over. I have, however, had
lots of help along the way. I am always looking for ways to improve my
program and was glad to be turned onto Scouts-L.
I want to thank Ed Badger, which I meet at National Camping School, for letting
me know about this great source of information. I would also like to
thank Mike Walton for mailing me the instructions on how to start receiving
mail. I would also like to thank all that is involved in making this forum
happen. This is an invaluable service.
Since I am new, I'm still learning how Scout-L works. I assume when someone
puts out a question and I see no responses, that the responses were sent
directly to that person. The reason I'm asking is because J. Seyfried asked
about Flag Etiquette. I was waiting to read the responses, but I only saw
one. I am going to be the Camp Director for Tecumseh Day Camp. Flag Day is
during the week of our camp. I wanted to do something special to honor our
flag. Any one have any suggestions?
Also, can someone explain why some of you "use to be Beavers (or whatever)".
I know some about the Woodbadge program, but thought once a Beaver, always a
Last question, I have plans of going to Philmont in July for a Family Camping
Conference. I will be taking my son. Does anyone have any suggests on the best
evening type programs for my son and myself or any other comments on Philmont.
This will be my first time there.
