Peter, we use the Order of the Arrow ASK (Arrowmen Sharing Knowledge) team
and members of the Lodge to provide support to new Troops. We have 2 troop
operations that are getting support from Scouts outside their regular troops.
Frankly, these kids are being given a leadership opporyunity that their
"home" troops cannot/will not provide. Check out the O/A.
As a Pack Committee Chairman, my adult leaders job is get and keep boys
interested in Scouting. My old troop is not really excited about the 19
Webelos coming at them. As a Pack leader, I feel that I can send them to
any unit that will take them in. I have sent the names and addresses of the
T37, T36, T28 (new), T89 (new), T105, T88, T63, and T227 Scoutmasters to the
parents and den leaders. I even sent the meeting niught and place so that
everybody can make up their own minds. I hope it will be enough to keep
things going. By the way, each of these troops is within 15 minutes of my
pack of 76.
To the other problem, sounds like a Troop with a unresolved opportunity.
