I think the square knot issue is a matter of personal choice.
General Eisenhower probably earned hundereds of medals during his career,
and was thus authorized to wear all the associated ribbons. He CHOSE to
wear only about three. Did that make him less of a General? Was he less
admired or respected than those who wore a chest full of ribbons. I don't think
I don't think it matters in Scouting either. What counts is what you do with
what you know, not what you wear (as long as what you wear is correct).
