For those of you not yet aware, the OA is holding a national training
conference August 20-24 at Philmont. 500 Arrowmen from across the nation
will be invited to attend this event. Each section chief may invite up to
11 arrowmen (8 youth and 3 adults) to go. Participants will be people who
will share their knowledge with the section through section conclave
training and other avenues. Each participant will choose to attend one of
four 5-day seminars: 1) Ceremonies; 2) Indian events; 3) Quality Program
Development; 4) Showmanship.
If you're interested, alert your lodge leadership--each lodge will send
in the names of five interested Arrowmen, along with a $50 deposit for
each, by March 31. If the Section Chief has not made his decision (and
this decision is to be made with the counsel of the Section Adviser) by
that date, the national director will send him the names of all the
Arrowmen that the lodges in his section have sent in. He will pick from
that group. Those not chosen will have their $50 refunded. (The idea behind
the $50 is to make sure that people are serious about going.) Total cost
is $185, to be paid by May 31.
