Hello I just joined this group. I recently became Cubmaster for a inner
city pack when the cubmaster for the past 10 years became very ill and
could no longer continue. When I took over the pack, we had only $200 in
the pack fund, $150 due by parents who never turned in their money from
the fund raiser in Oct, and the Blue and Gold and boat regatta yet to go.
All attempts to collect the money from these people have failed and I
have now resorted to paying for some PAck expenses out of pocket so the
boys will have the year they deserve.
As for Tiger Cubs, I greatly dislike the way it is run, with th eboys
only working with their parents. Next year I will be running a den for
the Tigers and will include them in all pack activites, pinewood, boats,
B&G, the hayride, etc. The program could use some serious revamping, make
the boys feel like they belong to Cub Scouting.
As for the uniform discussion, a few of you would blow a gasket if you
saw me leading the pack meetings in blue jeans and t-shirts, but right
now my main priority is keeping the PAck together, trying to get some
parents involved(not easy) and learning how to be a good leader. Once I
get established I will get the Shirt and look the part.
