well, I have about a hour or so ago, returned from the Elizabeth District
Founders Day Service. Basicly it takes from 20 to 30 minuates in a local park.
It wasn't to bad weather wise astoday it reached 35C (or something close to
100F!). It was quite mild really. But, Australia is in a lucky postion in that
we are in the middle of summer and can hold a Founders Day Service in the Main
Park in the Center of Elizabeth.
The service sheet reads as follows....
Welcome and Open
Song "P-P Feeling"
Baden Powell - History of Scouting
Founders day Message
Prayer and reaffirmation of Promise
Song - "If your happy and you know it"
Close - Benediction
And this year I think we set a record of some sort. It was over in 15 minuates.
Afterwards, one group had a going upceromony (they seem to deliberatly plan it
for this evening!) and a few families come and have tea n the park first.
We also have a program that we can use in the Leaders Handbook which is a full
program of 90 minuates that we can use for the meeting of Founders day, or the
meeting of that week. Idealy, we should have run it at our Pack Meeting on
Tuesday Night. Instead we went for a night walk and had a truck typer blow out
as it went past us. Kids didnt stop talking all night about it.
