Please allow me a moment to introduce myself as I have been
lurking for nearly a month.
My name is Mike Owens and I am currently the Cubmaster of Pack
890 in Livonia, Michigan. I have two sons in scouting, one who
recently received his Arrow of Light and bridged to Boy Scouting
at the Blue and Gold banquet this month and the other is
currently a first year Webelo. My son and I have both submitted
our applications to join Troop 782 in Livonia effective
immediately. I also have a daughter who is a Brownie in Troop
3311 and of course my lovely wife is the Troop Leader.
My scouting experience began as a scout in the early 70's. I
served in two different Troops, both of which have since
disbanded. I served as Troop Bugler, Patrol Leader, and
eventually reached the rank of First Class Scout before retiring
with 3 1/2 years of service.
I became a Den Leader for my older son's Den in 1991 and became
Assistant Cubmaster the following summer. I have assumed the
role as Cubmaster this past Summer and will be retiring from that
position within the next year. As I mentioned above, I have
already volunteered my services to the Boy Scout Troop and am
looking forward to resuming my Boy Scouting activities were I
left off 22 years ago.
I enjoy the camping part of scouting most of all. My sons and I
have attended Cub Scout Summer Camp, Fall Camporee, a Troop
campout, our annual Pack Spring camp outing and I have personally
served as Campmaster for the Pack Winter Camp over the last three
years. I also still enjoy bugling although I am a little out of
practice, but the scouts don't seem to mind.
Hope that was not too long winded but I am definitely hooked on
scouting! I will return to lurking until someone hits my button.

I hope to be something, someday, soon!
