Yep, the song, "Morning Has Broken" is in one of the editions of both
the Methodist Hymnal and the Baptist Hymnal. It has been there as long
as I can remember. I also looked it up in one of the shape-note hymnals
that my maternal grandfather and grandmother left me. He used it to
lead the singin' at Old Roaring River Baptist Church, which is at the
foot of Stone Mountain in Traphill, NC.
We sang the hymn at their funerals, as well as my father's.
Stone Mountain State Park, by the way, is a GREAT place to spend some
time with scouts camping, hiking, and trout fishing. The streams there
are (or were at one time) listed as some of the best trout fishing on
the east coast...
