OK, so I got caught at a weak moment with a jab to one of my hot buttons.
Even though I was "prepared" from earlier discussions on the list about the
infamous "Procedures for Maintaining Standards of Membership", this was an
especially grevious occurrance because the SM involved was an outstanding
scouter and a true credit to the movement. As Pogo said, "We have met the
enemy, and he is us". Or something like that.
And then the troop meeting didn't go very well (one of those nights) and I'm
up to my eyeballs getting ready to run the venture session at Polar days
this coming weekend. And there isn't enough (read any) snow. How can you
have polar days without any snow?! Indianhead council even had to cancel
their cross-country ski race last weekend. Sigh :^(
As my Daddy always told me, nobody said it has to be fair. It stems from the
dichotomy of growing up Irish Catholic. In a Scandahoovian Lutheran
community on top of it. But that's another story.
