I have a question to raise.
I was at a District Committee meeting tonight. We were informed
that each district will be allowed to sponsor 4 events in the future.
This includes Cubbing and Scouting events combined. We useually do
about 8 events per year.
1. Webelos Overnight (c) Sept 5. Spring Camporee (s) May
2. District Pinewood Derby (c) Mar 6. Klondike Derby (s) Febire
3. Cub-o-Ree (c) MayMe) 7. Fall Camporee (s) Oct
4. Cub'n'Family Picnic (c) June 8. Scouting for Food (c)(s) Mar
It has been stated that no District Event shall be scheduled within
2 months of a Council Event. I don't feel that we are scheduling
too many District level events, There are 4 for Cubs, 3 for Scouts
and one including both. (b)=Boy Scouts (c)=Cub Scouts
This is not coming from the grass roots but rather from the council
hierarchy. Is this a national trend, or just our local council's
actions? How many annual events do most other districts sponsor?
I plan to call our Council Exec. to find out more on the reasoning
behind this. In the meantime I would appreciate your input.
