My name is Don Robinson. I am a physician of internal medicine in a town
of about 30,000 here in Southeast Tennessee (Cleveland). I was a Cub Scout
in Athens, TN earning my Arrow of Light award, then moving on to Troop 118
where I was the second Eagle Scout in that troop. I attended the National
Scout Jamboree in 1964 at Valley Forge, PA. I was an OA ordeal member as a
scout, but last year became a Brotherhood member.
I re-entered Scouting in 1985 as an adult scouter, becoming the District
Commissioner, later District Chairman, and in 1989 assumed my present
position as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 10 a troop that has enjoyed over
70 years of Scouting. Since I became an Assistant Scoutmaster, I have seen
my oldest son achieve the rank of Eagle. Two other sons are at Life and
Second Class ranks.
The highlights of my adult Scouting career (other than seeing my son make
Eagle) have been attending the 1993 National Scout Jamboree as a staff member
and going to Philmont last Summer as an advisor to my troop's crew. Another
highlight would have to be my experience at Woodbadge training last Spring.
I will be awarded my beads this weekend at the annual Council banquet. I am
also proud to be a James West Fellow.
My next quest is to lead a Council contingent to the Florida Sea Base
next Summer ('96) where I plan to get some scuba diving in.
I am happy to be a Scouter. I also am happy that a list such as this
exists to encourage all who are dedicated to Scouting.
