My name is Steve Ader and am the Scout Master for Pack 52 in Provo, Utah. I'm
a student and a father of one (soon to be two). I've been in scouting since
the first grade and enjoy my new posision as Cubmaster.
I do though have a question to poss to the group...
QUESTION: Our Blue and Gold is coming up and for the past several years (at
least 6 now) the Pack has always had a "Father and Son" cake decorating
contest. This was started to encourage father and son particapation and to
provide desert BUT has turned into a "looked forward to" event.
In our committee meeting as we discused the cake contest there was some
apprehention to holding the contest this year. The issue was that some boys
don't have a male figure at home to help with the decorating.
I'm stuck, we'd like to have the contest but don't want any hurt feelings
Has anyone had this type of problem? If so can you let me know how you
