Happy February all,
I've got myself into another fun and exciting adventure. After many
many many pushes, talks, and puppy eyes by a certain editor, I've taken
on another project. ( it was the puppy eyes that did it).
Over the next few months I'll be taking a look at "The Roundtable". The
project will be a comprehensive look at roundtables, Boy scout, Cub
scout and Huddles, what works, what does not (or did'nt). I'll be
meeting, talking and corresponding with RT Commissioners, RT staff and
of course the RT participants from all over in an effort to publish an
article based on the search for the perfect roundtable experience.
Well thanks to the wonderful world of cyberspace, you too can be part of
this wonderful experience and add your $1.95 worth of RT experiences.
I'm N O T looking for war stories here, what I am looking for are
helps, hints and programs that increased RT attendance, provided real
training experiences and truly benefited your district's unit scouters.
I also want the fopas (that means major boo boos), that decreased
attendance or caused other problems which can or should be avoided.
Please do N O T include districts or council names or ID's. I'm looking
for the educational and informational benefit, not to point fingers or
give out laurels. For those across the pond(s) if you have anything you
use as a roundtable format or have ideas to share, please by all means
send it. I do request that you provide your name and E-Mail so if I do
need to follow up on something I know who to go to.
I'm estimating this as a six to eight month project with a scheduled
deadline in time for the 95/96 program year. With the current Scouter
publication date of October/November issue. If you have any
contributions to share please send them directly to my E-mail address
below. I'm after raw information right now and I'll take a look at
everything. This is your chance to help your own Roundtable as well as
Please, send your contributions directly to me and not to the
newsgroup. As the project gets underway I'll send out an update now and
I like to thank you all in advance for any help and co-operation
provided. And just for your information, I do NOT sell or in any way
receive any compensation or income from any scouting related articles I
write or publish. Never did, never will.
