US Girl Scouts may participate in this trip.
Several years ago the Indianhead Council adopted a policy that for
international exchange trips where the other country has boys and girls in
the same program that we would encourage Scouts of both sexes to participate.
We approached our corresponding Girl Scout council and told them of our
policy, and encouraged them to participate in these type of joint events.
At this very moment, we have a mixed Scout group visiting Costa Rica. This
is the fourth year the group has been mixed. We also accept mixed groups
from other countries and have used both Boy Scout and Girl Scout facilities
in providing them program. So far the only problems have been bureaucratic.
However, there are ways these can be overcome.
If there are any Girl Scouts that are interested in the Bulgarian trip, they
should apply. The bureaucratic problems can be handled.
