Over the past few months there have been a number of interesting points made on
Scouts-l regarding the topic of 'GROUP SCOUTER' I read these with interest and
found the many ideas quite useful. Now our Regional Service TEam has had it
placed on our agenda and I wish that I had saved all the items. Did anyone
save the items regarding group scouter? I would appreciate getting a copy.
I wouldalso be interested in any futher comments regarding the pros and cons of
this approach. At this time I have not come to any conclusions other than the
following items seem to be important.
1. The GS can serve an important link between the Group Committee and the
program sections; this is an an aide to the GC Chair; as a way of splitting the
GC chairs program and administrative responsibilities.
2. There are concerns about servicing roles regarding the group, and other
councils - who services who?
3. Where are the people who have the skills to do the GC job as it is
4. A good group scouter can be a strong addition to a group; an ineffective
one is a real liability! I didn't see much in the middle ground.
Any comments or discussion would be welcome.
