As a former Webelos Den Leader and a current member of Committee for a
Scout Troop, I think calling the den a patrol is a mistake. They are
allowed to have a patrol style name and patch, but they are still dens.
Calling the denner a patrol leader bothers me the most. This will
give them the wrong image of a patrol leader. Some one will need to
change this image when they get to Scouts. The adults being former
Cub leaders want to step in and run things. The boys being former Cub
Scouts, don't realize the should be doing the leading.
Den Leader: an adult that leads the den.
Denner: a Cub scout that helps the Den Leader run the den meeting.
Patrol Leader: a Boy Scout that leads the patrol.
Scoutmaster (or asst.): an adult that trains the patrol leader and
helps the patrol leader in planning.
