Over the last several years, we have had a "Bear and Dad (or other male
adult)" cake decorating event for our B&G banquet. Each Bear is to bake
and decorate a cake, without Mom's help. As with _any_ "contest" in our
Pack, there are no WINNERS and LOSERS. There may be a first, second, and
third place award, but EVERYONE gets some type of award for participating.
For the cakes, it can be "Most creative use of icing," "Most interesting
color scheme," or the "Cubmaster's Choice" award. All the participants go
home with some type of certificate/ribbon/something and no one feels bad
because they didn't _win_. Can't offer specifics about your centerpiece
contest, but please keep the Cub Motto in mind when judging and handing
out the awards--the boys are in this to learn, not to compete.
