When I was a Webelos Den Leader our Blue and Gold had such a contest with
the centerpieces. We invited the dignitaries to be the judges for the
contest, i.e. the principal, superintendent, teachers, PTO President,
pastor, etc. Since most of these don't have anything directly to do with
the Pack, they can be biased.
As for the center pieces, use the monthly theme, and build around that.
The judging was for these prizes:
Best in Design
Best in showing the theme
I hope this helps.......

I've been asked by my Pack Committee to poll the collective
net.wisdom for some ideas for the Blue & Gold banquet in February.
1. Any ideas for centerpieces/ a centerpiece contest/ and how to
administer such a thing? We've never done a "controlled" kind of
contest, and we're wondering how that might work.
2. Skit ideas -- my den, Bear age group (third grade) is the designated
skit group for the B&G. Great actors they're (we're) not. Something
corny is probably appropriate for our gang -- I'm not to confident of our
ability to be serious for more that about 30 seconds!
I saw the enlarging machine idea recently posted -- that was great!
I look forward to seeing everyone's suggestions -- Thanks!
