I have been to a World Jamboree in Sydney in 1987/1988 and had a ball. I will
try and answer some of the questions, but can not answer them all for you.
RK> As I am in scouting since years, I do know about the general
RK> idea of world jambrees. But in order to decide, I need to
RK> know more about :
RK> Are there some key subjects which will be
RK> discussed, offered, treated ?
I dont think there will be any key subject offered as such. To me, this
question sounds like you are going for lots of discussion groups and forums,
which were not offered at Sydney. We had lots of day activites such as day
trips sight seeing inSydney and other off site activites such as a overnight
activity and stuff. We also had heaps of on site activites such as archary, a
water slide and stuff like that. Fun, mixing activites.
RK> - How many scouts and cultures will participate ?
Ussually about 100 countries. We had 15,000 particpants at Sydney. It might be
more in Holland due to it being in Europe and a lot cheaper for some of those
countries to attend. But I dont think we have a big contingent from Australia
going as it is costing us aprox $5,000 Aust dollars to attend. More expensive
than for the Americans even.
RK> - How do the organizers make sure, that there is
RK> participation form all over the world, not only form the
RK> save and rich industrial nations ?
There are funds available in the different countries and different countries
also help finacially as well. It is done and while they dont get so many, there
is ussually at least one or two from the poorer countries. You might like to
check with your national headqwuaters to see if they are helping fund anyone.
Sometimes that is why it is so expensive to go. By asking say the Australians
to pay a $100 extra per head, then they can get a scout who may not afford it
to get there.
RK> - Do you have some very speacial information (such as personal
RK> experiences or gosips) about the upcoming event ?
None about Holland. Only about what happened at the World Jamboree in Sydney
back in 1987/1988. I dont know if this helps much, but I hope it does.
