Hello fellow Scouters. Like so many others who have introduced themselves,
I have been monitoring this list for a few months now and have decided
it is time to do the 'intro' thing.
I have been involved with Scouting as an adult for over 8 yrs. I started
as the Scouting Coordinator (now known as Chartering Organization Rep.) when
my son joined Wolf Cubs... After 1 yr, I also held the Committee Chair
position for the Pack. From time to time, I would fill in for the
CubMaster (PackMaster) and for my sons WEBELOS meetings. When my son
graduated to Boy Scouts, I naturally followed - still the Scouting
Coordinator and became the Committee Chair for the Troop. I have
since resigned from Scouting Coordinator and Committee Chair, and am
now an Asst. Scout Master. I am in the OA. As a youth, I made it
as far as Star. I quit due to non-interest; for which I now regret not
having gone the full distance.
I enjoy the outdoors immensely, go camping as often as I can... I have
gone to the Adirondacks (backdoor) on an 60 mile canoe trek, hike part
of the App. Trail, served on a few Council activities... I am a MB
councelor for many badges. I am currently involved in the planning of
a '95 High Adv. Trip to the Fla. Sea Base, and will be a leader on
the '96 Philmont contigent from our council.
I have found this list (SCOUT-L) to be very useful, much more useful than
rec.scouting... I have basically given up on that newsgroup as there is
far too much arguing and flame wars going on... I have gotten many
ideas from this group and have passed them onto our Troop SPL and SM...
Keep the ideas flowing! Great job...
O! Our troop has recently had 3 boys make Eagle, (1 in Sept. , 1 just a
few weeks ago, and 1 just handed in the paperwork). The unfortunate
aspect of these 3, is they will never be able to wear the Youth Rank...
they all made it under the wire with their 18th birthday... Not a good
trend to set for the other 5+ Life scouts we have... but nonetheless
they made it and I'm jealous :-) ... !
