After many years of not being a scout, here I am again. My son joined
a cub pack, and my wife was asked to help out. She is now a Webelos Leader
(trained in all but the outdoor, and regis.). I started by helping her and now
I am on the pack committee (next training for me).
Even though our son will be in a troop in a year, my wife and I have
decided to stay and work with this pack. When we first started it looked more
like a division of Baby Sitters of America, rather than Boy Scouts of America.
Primarily, the boys are from low income families and the pack treasury is next
to nil. It seems that the only one trained, besides my wife (I attended her
training unofficially), is the cubmaster. We seem to have our job cut out for
us. There have been no advancements for at least a year! Dawn and I promoted
5 Bobcats last month. The boys were confused as to what that was all about,
and thrilled when we told them.
I'm glad I found this electronic roundtable. I am also glad I saw the
name of my TKE little brother on the list. Hi Ellis!
Expect me to ask a lot of questions and occasionally play devil's
advocate if I think there is something missing in the discussion.
Again, HI ALL!
