Does anyone know of an Indian lore/dance troupe I could contact about
performing in a festival here in DeLeon, Texas, (90 miles southwest of
Fort Worth) in August?
The deal is this -- the first week of August, we have what is called a
Peach and Melon Festival to celebrate a couple of our town's main crops.
On that Saturday, we have something called "Golden Saturday" to
re-acquaint people with the old ways. Last year
I, for example, spent four hours or so portraying a Texas Ranger and
letting people shoot my blackpowder guns loaded with blanks.
We're expanding this year, and would like to have a group set up an
authentic Indian camp (if possible) and/or perform dances.
Surely there's some group out there interested -- if so, I'll provide more
details. There is, of course, a county fair-type carnival with rides,
etc., and there are two other attractions for any group interested -- a
bike ride (it's one of those X-km thin gs) and 10,000 pounds of free
ice-cold watermelon that day.
Thanks in advance, Cliff
