I'm somewhat new to this forum, and haver not responded to any other
comments to date, however I felt it necessary to say something this
The only APPROPRIATE time to indulge in smoking, drinking or other
"vice" is when you cannot be identified as being a BSA leader. Period.
Unfortunately, there ARE people out there that identify us with our
roles 24 hours a day and use instances like seeing you in the 7-11 and
the local pub to label the entire organization as degenerate.
I have been known to have a beer or two, but NEVER, NEVER, NEVER in
uniform, around my scouts, or at or near a BSA function. It's
hypocritical and bad advertising for our activity.
In a time when family values have at best become cloudy and at worst
disappeared, we need to remain true to our cause and sometimes go
beyond what might normally be considered acceptable to maintain the
integrity of the organization.
Would B-P have smoked or drank in front of his charges?? Doubtful.
