Bill Nelson asked about a Webelos Badge Ceremony.
There is an excellent Cub Scout Book "Staging Den and Pack Ceremonies"
available from the Boy Scouts. I would bet someone in your pack already has
it. If not, I strongly suggest your pack get a copy. On Page 95 is a good
ceremony for the Webelos Badge. Our pack also made the "advancement ladder" on
P.141. Using scrap wood, it takes about 3 Hrs for a klutz to make and costs
under $3.00 for hardware and this prop supports ALL advancement ceremonies.
Some pointers we have found useful in running ceremonies. 1) Don't Read! The
exact words are not important. Just get close. 2) Dim The Lights during the
ceremony. 3) SET FIRE TO SOMETHING (we suggest candles). Our experience has
found that if you do these three things, the scouts really feel the ceremony
If you are in dire straights and cannot get a copy of this book, I will be
glad to E-Mail you the text for the ceremony. Just let me know (preferably
today so I can get it before I leave work tomorrow).
