To my knowledge, our Council (back when it was still Cherokee Council) did
not serve alcohol at its banquet. This appearance of a double standard and
the inherent hypocrisy of that was the reasons.
No alcohol at Scouting functions should mean just that. No Alcohol At
Scouting Functions. Whether you are in uniform or not is irrelevant, IMO.
Now... if a bunch of people, who just happen to be Scouters, get together
for a social affair at one of their homes should alcohol be served? If the
new DE is invited over for dinner, is it ok to have a drink? That's a whole
other grey area -- would anyone comment on this?
