I have been under the impression that the OA Lodge Advisor is a permanent
member of the Council Camping Committee and/or Camp Promotion Committee
depending on what it is called in your council.
The Order of the Arrow plays a big part (or should) in the camping and
summer camp programs for a council. In my councol, the OA puts out a where
to go camping book, puts together a slide or video presentation on council
summer camp programs and takes this around to show to the different Troops,
they conduct and coordinate work and repair projects at the different
council camps, conduct the OA activities at camp during summer camp, and
many more support functions for the council. Unless the council has some
other standing committee for the OA activities, the Camping committee is in
general the best place of the OA, as from the council committee they are
able to make the council aware of their plans and obtain the necessary
support, and also from there they can keep up with other council activities
that they need to be aware of.
I would recommend that you accept the position on the council level
committee, if it turns out that you are required to move because of
employment, it would be necessary for them to replace you on the Lodge
Advisor spot anyway.
