RE: Paul Miles, Troop 18 Eagle Controversy.
The following is the modified text of my response to Paul Miles numerous
messages via this forum.
Unfortunately, I only recently learned the source of the letters and the list
server address so that I
could offer a balanced response to the charges and innuendo.
I was impressed by the reply and analysis from Susan G. whose analysis and
interpretation of the
situation was uncanny in its accuracy.
It is unfortunate that so many of you immediately jumped in to support the
scoutmaster, even to the
extent of one Scouter from California sending a letter to TJ Van Houten
suggesting a complete
investigation. This may occur, but if it does I feel confident that the
scout and I will be vindicated.
Based on what has occurred, I have formally requested that I be re-appointed
Advancement Chairman as I feel our district needs a representative who will
go to bat for the scouts
and support national policies. After all, scouting is a YOUTH organization.
As for all of the threats of resignation by the troop and advancement
committee members who sided
with Mr. Miles, please keep your promises (threats), after all, a scout is
trustworthy and in my
opinion that would be in the best interests of the scouting program.
