In addition to Nathan's point about safty and the VERY unsafe use
of a modle rocket, INSIDE a building etc. Why teach the CUBS that
parents do not have to follow ALL the rules? If a parent wants to
build cars, they follow the SAME rules, and maybe you have the
2nd year webelos den JUDGE and inspect the parents cars for violations
etc. I have seen the CUB's race winners, race off agains the parents
at the end of the day. The best cub cars WON as often as parents.. . .
Except for the parent that had a MAGNET imbedded in the front of
his car! The magnet pulled on the start gate, and gave the car
a "launch" effect, when the gate was released. Once detected,
he was disqualified in the speed points, but given an award
Parents cars also seem to suffer a higher level of 'sabotage'
when reinsected for the FINALs against the cubs'. ANything
to KEEP it fun, without TOO much competition, and parents
This year I saw indoor "balloon" races for the first time.
It looked like the Cubs had a lot of fun!
