My case is similiar. This summer I was a Boy's COunselor at a church
camp in addition to Camp Staff for BSA...As a counselor I had a cabin
with 6 boys in it (1st week 5-6 graders,2nd 7-8 graders, 3rd gigh
schoolers). Although my cabin was noisy and everything the kids were
fine. Some of the girl counselors had a lot of cases of child abuse
come up....because a) we had been somewhat tarined at orientation b) the
training I had received as a Boy Scout Leader and c) the expertise of
the 2 priests in attendance the situation was handled properly and the
wrong things were NOT said. The appropriate authorities were contacted
I guess what I am saying is that BSA training helps in a lot of
different places....I am thouroughly for YPP...my only question is at
what point do they say "You can't be a leadre?": 4 parking tickets?
abuse? check fraud what? Is some 18 year old Eagle Scout who has been
a great scout since 14 going to get booted because he screwed up when he
was 12 and stole a car? (not me, just hypothetical)....
