Getting High School kids together is very difficult. I have a high adventure
Post of about 25 kids. It's co-ed and that has helped a lot. However,
meetings are rare and far between. The last meeting we had was organized at
our local Rock Climbing Gym. The kids Climbed, had pizza and talked about
We never get everybody at any activity or meeting. I'm happy with 50%. It's
not like Boy Scouting at all.
But I do find the ones that participate, have a great time. When they don't
show, its usually because they have toher commitments, sports, band, clubs,
girls, dances, parties, etc.
I plan trips with the executive group (president and two VPS with two advisors
present). Most are happy to follow the ideas of the executive group.
My advise...just plan a trip every two months. Be consistent. make sure the
trip is enjoyable, interesting or challenging.
If they are happy...be happy yourself.
