I have read the current thread on tents, so I have a question.
I have read all of you mentioning two to four people tents, never
bigger ones. Here in Italy, almost all Troops use almost always
Patrol-sized tents for Camping, while Rovers use always 2-3 people
tents. When some Scout needs to go hiking he'll borrow a smaller tent
from some rover.
I am under the impression that Patrol-sized tents are better for a
stationary camp, since they allow the whole patrol to sleep together,
and this usually leads to better Patrol cohesion.
Do any BSA Troops still use patrol-sized tents? I know a Scout Manual
for BSA from the late 40s mentions them only, so there must have been
a "switch" somewhere sometime (possibly when dome tents were first
Also, what about other countries?
