Here's my go at introductions.....
My name is Vic Bitel and currently I am Cubmaster (5th year) of Pack 164
which goes back about 35 years. I also serve as adult Quartermaster of Troop
308 (25 year history). My wife, Cynthia, serves as Pack 164's Committee
Chair and has borne three scouting sons (two Cubs, one Boy Scout). This
year, we have 34 cubs enrolled and are off to a great start with 15 parents
at our last committee meeting. Enthusiasm, as they say, is contagious! Last
June, we had 85 people (Cubs and family) at our annual Pack 164 family
campout at beautiful Camp Agawam in Lake Orion, Michigan. Since it rained
two of the three days, we named it Agua-wam and had loads of fun anyway.
My own scouting experience as a boy was limited to two years with a Detroit
Area Council troop (Dave Navarre-- hello!). Cynthia and I are are also very
involved in WorldWide Marriage Encounters, a volunteer group that strengthens
marriage relationships through communication skills. We've been able to
successfully employ some of the Ethics In Action and Family Activity book
ideas into our pack programming to foster important family values.
Driven by my new-found computer literacy and bolstered by our success in
computerizing the Pack, I decided to dive head first into the rushing waters
Internet thanks to a recent "Scouting" magazine article and AOL's internet
gateway. I'd enjoy sharing Cub Scouting ideas (especially skits and
campfires --- I have an electric campfire) with any scouts on line.
