What you say is true..
I received a Venturer Handbook from Australia today.. I'm impressed,
it's much clearer than our Canadian Venturer Handbook (IMO). I like
it. I don't know if you're involved with Venturing over there- but
it suggests that a Unit might want to give all potential members
a'special task that has to be completed with everyone, especially the
new member, will consider significant - canoeing across a river to
the place of investiture or abseiling into the horseshoe of Venturers
below, or skiing to the top of a knoll with flares at night - in other
words, something that is both fun and meaningful.' (p88, Australian
Venturer Handbook) This would satisfy that need.
I'm definitely going to have to suggest that we include some of the
programme ideas included in the Australian Venturer programme..
