My Scout Troop (7th Leatherhead, Surrey, England), were very
fortunate to be able to make friends with Troop 401.
A particular mention must be made of a young Scout from Troop 401
Christopher Soghoin (cassy). A small, dark haired, always hungry, not very happy
early mornings, young Scout.
Who with in minutes of arriving on our site introduced himself.
I am told by his Scout Master "he's a bit of a fast mover".
What was most most pleasing to see was just how quickly
our Two Troops made friends, and how soon the returned to being just
boys, as well as Scouts. (A sure sign of friendship).
I was great fun in the later part of the evenings listening to the
boys talk about their the fun, experiences and friendship they had
during the day while sitting inside our trialer tent drinking hot chocolate or
soup, and murdering a large tin of biscuits, or any of food they were
Back to cassy.
By the end of the camp it was quiet noticable he had a passion for
collectiing woggles, he was very keen to point out, that had more
woggles than I did, he prooved it by wearing them all at once.
Another character at camp was one one of my Scouts from 7th
Leatherhead, Oliver Koh, 11 years old, the youngest of 3 brothers,
all 3 being in my Troop and about 4 feet 6 inches tall. Ollie is one of these b
oys, who smile is
enough to make any hardend Scouters laugh, even when he being
naughty. A sort of Troop mascot.
Being small he thinks he can not be noticed, wrong !
It is a dead certainty that if there are any girls on site, Ollie will
use his charm, and be an instant arraction. While Summer Camp if he
went missing, it easy to guess where he was.
WITH THE GUIDES, they thought he was sweet, little to they know.
He is also one of the boys who will try any thing.
What about the leaders.
I will leave that to cassy (if he dares)
