Bill Hunter talked about Mike Waltons Comment on how LDS troops troops might
need help running a troop properly.
I belive that Mike did not mean that like it was taken. Every troop,
need help to properly run them. This is why the BSA provides training
like woodbadge, and JLT, not to menchion the massive amount of lititure
that they produce.
I do feel that it is good if LDS troops set there own goals and do
achive them, But LDS troops should also take an active part in the BSA
program. Here in the Bluegrass councils
summer camp, Mckee, during
the summers of 90-92 the council allowed all the LDS troops in the
council to attend summer camp during the same week, this was not a problem.
The problem was when these troops desided that they were to stay in the
same campsite and not want to particpate in camp wide activitys. This
was llowed for three years then the council relized the problems that it
was creating, mostly the group being too big to stay together. When
the LDS troops were told they could not stay together, but could come
the same week, they desided to do there own summer camp and for the most
part do not attened anymore
Stuff like this is the reasing that non-LDS troops leaders, and others
do not understand why, or what the goal of the LDS troops are.
