This may be a strange question to ask here, but I know a lot of BSA
members know much about Native American names, so here it goes :
Our Scouting group is called "de Mohicanen" (= the Mohicans, after
the book by James Fenimore Cooper). The group was founded in the 1930's
and most of the old records have been lost over the years.
Now the oldest units of our group have native american names, but
their meaning and origins are lost in time, so maybe some of you can
help. The names are :
Now it might be that the spelling was changed to match the dutch
pronounciation, but that will not make much difference.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Please send it by e-mail, since
I don't think it is of much use to others on the list.
